eAgro Portal

e-Agro Web Portal is web portal with social media features designed to revolutionize the 21^st Century agricultural industry in Cameroon by bringing together stakeholders in the agricultural sector in a forum that augment food production and distribution through interaction, information sharing/dissemination and capacity building with the use of ICT tools. This project introduces and stimulates the maximum use of advanced technology and portable media devices such as Smart Phones, iBook, iPod, iPads, and Laptops by farmers to access multi-file format digital agricultural materials published on a the agro social media website that connects farmers, stakeholders, Agricultural promotion programs and agro credit schemes to interact and share these resources.

However, the impact of the social media as a highly interactive medium today has been instrumental in bringing together different actors in the agricultural sector, and this could go beyond interaction and Information sharing to capacity building, applying for loans, grants and agricultural grants through interactive tools made available by advancement in Technology. And this project put in place a website that makes it possible for farmers to access all these opportunities, resources and materials and use of all forms of portable media devices to develop the agricultural sector 

The project idea works towards achieving the new vision for agriculture by introducing and integrating technology for agricultural development, as emphasized in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2012. Looking at the situation in Cameroon, there exist no forum for farmers to interact, access and share information, likewise government, stakeholders and development partners lack the means to disseminate information directly to farmers.

 The e-Agro Web Portal is a medium that introduces the use of ICT tools like an interactive website with Social Media features such as blogging, video streaming, text publisher, downloadable audio/visual learning gadgets, picture/photo sharing etc.

Through the framework of this project the following results will be reached:

• A website with social media features designed with the compatibility to be accessed through potable media devices such as smart phones, iPods/iPads and laptops computers
• Farmers, agricultural credit schemes, government program and instructions get trained and informed on the use of the website
• Stakeholders and development partners will use the medium to disseminate information to the farmers
• Agricultural credit schemes, government programs will publish all opportunities through this medium to reach out directly to farmers
• Farmers access agricultural loans and credit schemes and government programs through forms published and administered on the website, using portable media devices
• Agricultural Farmers, research and department of the agricultural Research unit in the government will publish audio/visual materials that will assist farmers build their capacities

This website will have unlimited storage capacities to host multi-file format educational materials for download and subscribers who use the above mentioned devices to access or upload pictures, videos, texts document etc. to share with members in the forum. See more about Features of the website
